Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This paper aims to established a multi-objective optimization model for single-point intersection signal timing with intersection saturation, green light duration and signal cycle duration as constraints. To achieve reduced vehicle delays, queue length and pollutant emissions at intersections.

However, I think this article needs to be substantially revised before it can be published. Specific comments are in PDF file.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This paper presents a multi-object model for traffic signal optimization. In the model, the authors considered reducing traffic emissions in traffic signal control. The topic is interesting and useful. However, there are still some issues that should be enhanced.

1. The data cited in the introduction should refer to the source or references. In addition, some critical viewpoints should cite the related references to support the standpoints

2. The novelty of this paper is unclear. The authors should highlight the novelty and contribution in the introduction section.

3. In the methodology section, 3.1.4 the vehicle emission model should be changed to vehicle emission impact, and the factor should be analyzed in more detail. It is suggested to reorganize the structure.

4. It should explain why this manuscript chose the genetic optimization algorithm in more detail, such as the advantages and principles of the selected algorithm. In addition, the proposed algorithm or the algorithm chosen in this manuscript should be described step by step.

5. It is suggested that the limitations of the proposed method and the future work are presented in the conclusion section.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Thank you for the opportunity to review an interesting and relevant article. Areas to be corrected:

1. It is recommended to expand keywords.

2. The introduction contains general information that does not indicate the exclusivity of this article, as well as the need for research. The purpose of the article should also be highlighted in the introduction.

3. When summarizing the analysis of the scientific literature, it should be more emphasized what is the gap between the conducted research and the authors of this article, and not just emphasize that "........ there isn't a widely applicable emission model in China yet."

4. It is not recommended to end the subsection with a formula/figure, there must be a summary and a logical transition to the next subsection.

5. To clarify the name of subsection 3.2.2.

6. Clarify the name of the 4th section, it should probably be the Results section

7. In the results and discussion section, the authors of the article should have a more critical approach, why such results, and what solutions they propose to solve the problem.

8. Limitations should be named in the conclusions, and directions for further research should be indicated.

9. As for such a topic, there must be a significantly larger list of literature sources.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Thanks for the corrections. A few more observations and suggestions:

1. It is not recommended to end the introduction with points, maybe it could end with a short description of the parts of the article or something like that.

2. Since the image itself has a name, it is recommended to remove the name inside the 6th image so that there is no duplication.
