Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Nanotechnology has made remarkable progress over the years, enabling the development of genuine and effective platforms for a wide range of modern and specific applications. In recent years, multifunctional transition metal and metal oxide nanocomposites and their hybrids (bi-, tri-, and multi-metallic nanoparticles) have generated significant interest in the realms of environmental and biomedical applications due to their unique properties and versatilities. The tunable properties of metal oxide nanocomposites, including physicochemical versatility, intrinsic functionality, particular reactivity and surface chemistry, optical and electronic properties, thermal and magnetic features, catalytic and biological activities. In addition, the functional properties metal oxides are highly diverse and can be finely tuned based on several factors, including crystal structure, morphology, composition, intrinsic defects, and doping properties. Most importantly, as opposed to focusing on individual components, combinations of two or three metal or metal oxide nanoparticles (bi-, tri-, and multi-metallic nanoparticles) as synergy represent a potential area in need and worthy of further investigation due to several substances with the ability to improve solubility.

We warmly invite you to contribute to this Special Issue, titled “Multifunctional Metal and Metal Oxide Nanocomposites for Environmental and Biomedical Applications”, with your most recent findings, original research articles and reviews on nanostructured system-based metal and metal oxide nanocomposites. Environmental applications, including the electronics and energy industry, the textile and the food industry and biomedical applications such as antibacterial, antifungal and anticancer therapy, wound healing, and tissue engineering, represent relevant topics of interest to this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Bioengineering is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
