Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Steel structure buildings are widely used in modern buildings because of their light weight, high strength, and recyclability. With the continuous innovation of new steel structure construction technology and the continuous improvement of metal material preparation and processing technology, the integration of their comprehensive performance and structural function is being increasingly perfected. However, this has also caused the safety problems of steel structure buildings to gradually emerge and become the focus of our attention. Therefore, in the design and construction process of steel structure buildings, we must deeply study and explore the best application of materials and their structural design. Thanks to precise analysis and simulation techniques, we are able to accurately determine the optimal configuration of materials and structures at different project stages, thus taking full advantage of their performance and ensuring that the safety and stability of steel structures are significantly improved.

We invite high-quality, cutting edge articles for this Special Issue on “Steel Structure Building Safety: Structural Analysis and Simulation”. The scope of this Special Issue is broad topics including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Structural analysis theory and simulation methods of steel structure—the in-depth study of structural analysis theory of steel structure, combined with advanced simulation method, provides strong support for the safety design of steel structure;
  • Research on the safety performance of steel structures under extreme conditions—in view of extreme climatic conditions, earthquakes, and other natural disasters, exploring the safety performance of steel structures provides reliable guarantees for practical engineering applications;
  • Steel structure safety assessment and monitoring technology—the use of advanced assessment and monitoring technology, real-time monitoring of steel structure safety status, timely discovery, and solution of potential safety hazards;
  • Design optimization and safety improvement of steel structure—through the optimization of structural design, improving the bearing capacity and stability of steel structure effectively improves the safety of steel structure;
  • Research on new preparation process and properties of steel structure and its materials—exploring new preparation process, studying the performance characteristics of steel structure materials, and providing new possibilities for the development of steel structures;
  • Research and development of new materials related to steel structure—active research and development of new materials suitable for steel structures to meet different engineering needs and promote the innovative development of the steel structure industry.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Buildings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
