Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the ever-evolving landscape of proteomic research, the application of gel-based techniques stands as a cornerstone methodology, offering profound insights into the intricate world of proteins. As a seasoned researcher and expert in the field of proteomics, I propose a comprehensive exploration of the diverse applications, innovations, and challenges associated with gel-based proteomic techniques.

This special issue aims to provide a platform for researchers, scientists, and experts to share their groundbreaking contributions, methodologies, and discoveries in the realm of gel-based proteomics. Through collaborative efforts, we seek to advance our understanding of the biological significance and clinical implications embedded within the protein networks uncovered by these techniques. The significance of gel-based proteomic techniques extends beyond their traditional role as tools for protein separation. They have become indispensable in unravelling complex cellular processes, deciphering disease mechanisms, and identifying potential therapeutic targets. This special issue will accentuate the critical role gel-based proteomics plays in shaping the current landscape of life sciences. We are inviting original research articles, reviews, and methodological advancements that encompass the following themes, but are not limited to:

  1. Applications in Disease Biomarker Discovery:  Gel-Based Profiling of Cancer Biomarkers. Neuroproteomics: Unveiling Signatures in Neurological Disorders;
  1. Integration with Multi-Omics Approaches: Integrative Proteogenomics: Unifying Genomic and Proteomic Insights, Cross-Omics Data Integration for Systems Biology Understanding;
  2. Comparative Analysis with Alternative Proteomic Techniques: Gel vs. Liquid Chromatography: A Comparative Overview, Addressing Limitations: Combining Gel-Based and Label-Free Quantitative Proteomics;
  3. Advancements in Protein Resolution and Identification: Protein Staining Innovations: Focusing on new techniques in protein visualization, Enhanced Image Analysis: Covering improvements in analyzing gel-based proteomics data;
  4. Sustainable Practices in Gel-Based Proteomics: Green Chemistry in Electrophoresis: Highlighting eco-friendly approaches in protein separation, Eco-Conscious Lab Practices: Discussing sustainable methods in proteomic research;
  5. Translational Implications: From Bench to Bedside: Clinical Proteomics: Bridging the Gap from Discovery to Diagnostics, Therapeutic Target Identification through Gel-Based Approaches.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Cells is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
