28 May 2024 Future Transportation Webinar | Influential Papers in Future Transportation

Online

Currently, technology and climate change are revolutionizing the way people and goods are moving. I am happy to introduce this inaugural session of presentations devoted to Future Transportation. This is the first in a series of online seminars dedicated to some of the most important papers published in MDPI’s Future Transportation journal.

Future Transportation is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal published quarterly online by MDPI that covers civil engineering, economics, environment and geography, computer science, and other transdisciplinary dimensions of transportation.

This session presents two highly influential papers in a Special Issue of the journal dedicated to Feature Papers. The presentations cover high-speed rail and mobility apps, and the speakers are leading European researchers from Italy and Spain. Given the high-quality research, the topics, and the caliber of the presenters, I expect it to be an exciting session.

7–8 October 2024 8th E-Mobility Power System Integration Symposium

Helsinki, Finland

The purpose of the E-Mobility Power System Integration Symposium is to discuss the challenges that arise with increased power demand due to electric vehicle charging and how they can be met through coordination with renewable power production in the electrical system (hence the combination with the solar and wind integration workshop). The selection of topics also highlights the need for integrating the required electric vehicle charging infrastructure with the expansion of the distribution and transmission system.

The Symposium offers an opportunity to discuss the significant future impact of E-Mobility on the design and operation of power systems. It aims to bring together experts on electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, power system operators, and stakeholders of the renewable energy industry as well as power system regulators and universities.

Topics of the Symposium

  • Project experience with EV grid integration;
  • Grid-forming aspects and experience;
  • Power system aspects with high shares of EVs;
  • Distribution grid issues;
  • Market and regulatory aspects;
  • Charging infrastructure planning and smart charging;
  • High-power charging;
  • Vehicle-to-grid, including ancillary service, participation;
  • Charging methods and the standardization of charging modes/communication;
  • Communication and security aspects;
  • Grid integration modeling aspects;
  • Grid code issues and future aspects;
  • Decarbonization of energy sectors;
  • Decarbonization of transport with green hydrogen;
  • Electrification of urban mobility;
  • Mobility as a service;
  • AI and machine learning for grid integration;
  • E-Mobility and renewable energy integration.
